Allowing Your Success with the ABSOLUTELY Factor

By Terez Hartmann

By saying “no” to “so-so” you say “YES!” to ALLOWING Your Success!

Have you ever noticed that when you make a decision that feels SO “on the money” and—when there isn’t even one iota of doubt—that fabulosity (AKA SUCCESS!) is what pans out?

On the other hand, have you noticed that when you have to try to “sell” yourself on something, weigh pros and cons and, by gosh, “make” it work by ramming that square peg into that blasted round hole, that this rarely leads to happily-ever-after?

I can’t speak for anyone else, but when I look at the relationships and experiences I’ve embraced that were the result of saying “Absolutely” to life, EVERY, EVERY, EVERY (and did I say, “EVERY”?) one of those things turned out to make my “coolest things EVER!” list—and many of those things are STILL a part of my life today!

SO-SO = No Go!

At a recent gathering facilitated by friend, I met a lovely woman who shared some very powerful insights about our “absolute” true nature of love and well-being. When I spoke with her about this and mentioned that “Absolutely” was the word I used and feeling I experienced when something was IT for me, it immediately brought to mind my answer of “Absolutely!” when my husband, John, proposed to me many years ago. What an interesting coincidence, I thought.

A few minutes after talking with my new friend, I decided to seek out yet another fellow participant. There seemed to be ample practical reasons and outward signs that this was the thing to do at the moment, but, for some reason, my gut was telling me a whole different story! Sure enough, when I went to connect with her, a string of less-than-ideal circumstances ensued: Every time I was ready to speak with her, she was talking with someone else. I then called her by the wrong name. When I finally did get to connect with her, the most unusual thing happened: I started stuttering and stammering as if large chunks of thought had suddenly vanished somewhere between the journey from my brain to my mouth! While this phenomenon has been known to happen when attempting intelligent communication prior to coffee consumption, or after a night of very little shut-eye, anyone who has seen me in action knows that this highly outgoing lil’ chica is pretty well known for being able to yap with the best of them! End result: I did eventually regain my composure and my potential new friend was quite nice and helpful, but I still came away feeling a bit flustered and bewildered by what had just taken place. What on earth was my deal??!!

The Absolutely Factor = Happily-Ever-After!

After a few minutes of scratching my head, I decided to let the matter rest and resolved to head home. Shortly after arriving at the house and greeting my sweetheart, I was given specific instructions to make sure that I answered the next knock on the door. When I opened the door, there was our friendly neighborhood UPS guy with a box of…flowers! AWWWEE!!!

It was all coming back to me now: TODAY was THE anniversary of the THE day John proposed—the day I said “Absolutely”—and when I discovered the note attached to the box of flowers that read, “‘Absolutely,’ perhaps the best word ever spoken!” There was no mistaking that this was a very clear message for me!

When John asked me to marry him, saying “Absolutely” felt like THE most natural, perfect thing in the world. In fact, there was no real thought process required: It felt as if I was simply along for the ride while this word escaped from my lips. It was a perfect co-mingling of joy, love, peace, and certainty—as if a larger part of me already felt like we were married. The end result: a beautiful, yet very natural feeling moment which set the wheels in motion for celebrating 11-plus years of being married to my favorite person in all the known universe AND a continuing journey that is all about love, passion, friendship, partnership, inspiration, creativity, expansion, and FUN!

Size Doesn’t Matter—Until it Does!

Get the message now, so you’re primed and ready to allow. When I compare awesome experiences like this to times when I acted from a place that felt sketchy or slightly “off” (like what JUST happened earlier that day!), the blah factor or all-out (not-so-groovy) funk-fest that ensued was no match for what goes down when the “Absolutely Factor” is present.

This little trip to Funkytown turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it was far better to have had a small “moment” in the presence of friends than on national television while talking with Ellen or Oprah! ‘Tis far better to learn from the little things so they need not become the big ones, because size doesn’t matter—until it DOES!

The Bottom Line on Allowing YOUR Success with the “Absolutely Factor”

Being that many of us are caring, “half-full,” positive people, it’s understandable to think that saying “no” is negative or that we may limit our options to thrive or serve in some way. But having the courage to say “no” to the things that feel so-so—to things that compromise your integrity or things that feel anything other than “Absolutely”—actually translates to saying “YES!” to your value and self-respect, living authentically and to staying on-purpose. This then frees you up to also say “YES!” to the things that truly matter, to being of service to those who are in a place to fully accept and benefit from your ideas and help, and to ABSOLUTELY say “YES!” to Allowing YOUR Success!

Absolutely celebrating the fabulousness that is YOU!!!
