You Decide, the Universe Moves

By Rev. Marla Sanderson

A few months ago, we decided to redesign our New Thought Global Network website in WordPress.

It was my first time with WordPress. I discovered thousands of themes, plug-ins, widgets, and add-ons available to customize a website. Talk about abundance!

I spent weeks—maybe months—lost in the multitude of options. It seemed like every time I came close to a decision, another array of possibilities presented itself. It made me wonder if there can be too much of a good thing.

The concern that I would waste even more time if I made the wrong choices kept me from going forward. Not only did it hold me back, it caused me to doubt myself. I wondered if I would lose interest before I got it all done.

It would speed up my progress if I had a giant index of every possible product and solution. It would be well organized, with just the information and recommendations I need to make the best choices.

But no. There’s no such thing.

Kinda like life, isn’t it?

We have no menu of solutions or lifestyles. We get no guarantees things will turn out the way we hope. We limit our experience by what we can imagine and believe for ourselves.

In New Thought we remind ourselves that we live in a universe of infinite creativity and freedom. The Intelligent and Loving Power that created all things places no limits on us and supports us completely.

With infinite possibilities at every turn, we can allow something greater to emerge through us.

We can look beyond what we learned about relationships and lifestyle from our parents and our past.

But if we allow fear to paralyze us, we miss out on the greatest mental power we possess—the POWER OF DECISION.

There’s nothing wrong with praying for guidance to make the right decision or to take the best path. And it’s OK to ask for a sign. I do it all the time. It helps me get a sense of what I really want, and sometimes the most wonderful things happen.

The fact is, though, that ultimately the decision is mine to make.  Once I make it, the universe moves to show me the next step and the next step.

If I choose something else, the universe will move for that too. If I change my mind, the same thing will happen.

It would be nice to know the outcome of my decisions and actions in advance, but life doesn’t work that way.

I am grateful for the life experiences I have; and if things no longer work for me, it’s OK to change my mind.

When I do, guess what! Yep, the universe moves again.
