Now Matter How You Look At It… It’s All ONE Thing

by Marla Sanderson

“We all look forward to the day when science and religion shall walk hand in hand through the visible to the invisible.”— Ernest Holmes

And so he called his philosophy “Religious Science.”

As far back as I can remember, I have wondered who I am and how I got here. I recall being about three or four years old with an urgent question, “Where was I before this?” to which my mom replied that I’d been in the bathtub. “NO! Before that!” I insisted. As she reminded me of each of the previous events of the morning, I got more and more frustrated, continuing to ask the question in different ways.

Finally, she must have gotten my point and said, “Oh, you were with God, Honey.” It was the only answer that satisfied me, and I settled down, feeling better about my world.

What if she told me that I came from an egg produced by her body or that I was a gleam in my father’s eye? Science can confirm that this is so, but is that all there is to know?

Science studies the visible. Spirituality explores the invisible. No matter which direction we come from, it’s only natural that they must eventually meet somewhere in Truth.

Science can look at the physical universe and figure out what’s ticking. Or maybe how it’s ticking. It might even some day figure out what makes it tick. Then what?

People who believe only what they can see will never ask such questions, and those who have experienced the reality of spiritual connection will never be convinced that it doesn’t exist.

What good is knowledge unless you can apply it in some productive way to improve the quality of your life? How do you do that?

Religious Science or any branch of New Thought teaches there is only one thing going on. It is the life of God. God is everywhere and in everything. It is the Creator and the Created. This means there is no other life and no thing outside of Itself, and that means YOU are the embodiment of an omnipotent power.

There is a greater Truth about who you are, but it is up to you to look for it or open yourself to it. As you explore your spiritual side, it will become clear that you are not just an end product of the Creative Power; you are a partner—a spiritual co-creator with the Infinite.

And the product you create is your life.
