Abundance: All We Ever Need is a New Idea

By Rev. Marla Sanderson

“No person whose entire time is spent in the contemplation of limitation can demonstrate freedom from such limitation!”
—Ernest Holmes, The Science of Mind

The Science of Mind teaches that we always get more of what we focus on. If we focus on lack, we’ll get more lack. If we focus on abundance, we’ll get more abundance.

Consciousness creates effects. Stated another way, Mind creates conditions and situations. Though conditions and situations may seem to be limited, Mind never is.

Mind is full of ideas and energy. It is filled with solutions and opportunity.

Higher consciousness invites solutions. Lower consciousness perpetuates problems. We can never truly solve a problem at the level of the problem. It takes a higher idea—a higher state of thinking—to evolve a lasting solution.

Certain segments of today’s society want us to believe in shortages, and they’re quick to point out dwindling resources and starving people in various parts of the world. Some mean well and others appear to have selfish motives. But no matter what the motivation, this kind of thinking has never actually eliminated poverty or starvation.

To get a sense of abundance, try taking a walk in nature.Look around you. Can you count the number of leaves on a tree? Or the blades of grass? Weeds and flowers and bugs proliferate everywhere. Turn over a rock and you’ll see things living under there you didn’t know existed. Communities of creatures thrive in places we never see.

Did you put them there? No, neither did I. Something greater than us created Life and continues to perpetuate it. Call it God, call it Infinite Mind or Chicken Soup—it doesn’t matter. Whatever we call it, there is just ONE Source. It is abundant in every way—rich in substance and rich with ideas. When we turn to It for inspiration or answers, It reveals Its creative nature to us and through us, often revealing possibilities not imagined before.

Back in the 1800s, because of the increasing population, people were worried that in the 20th century there would not be enough horses for everyone. And, sure enough, they were right.

But Infinite Mind, always abundant, had an idea that put us on the track for a brand new kind of transportation; and a few bright, optimistic men tuned in to that creativity and brought the idea into manifestation.

Mass employment and great fortunes have been created and continue to be created out of the automobile industry, and they didn’t fall out of the sky. Every fortune came from an idea (and probably a fair amount of work).

So abundance isn’t really about money—it’s about creativity.

It’s about ideas. It’s about the human mind that tunes in to the Creative Flow and acts on inspiration.

Divine Mind has always known all there is to know and Divine Substance has always been available. The idea and the materials for new forms of transportation waited for human consciousness to be ready for it and it became the answer we were looking for.

The Mind that created the entire universe and everything in it is available to us. It is right where we are. When we turn our attention to IT instead of the problem, it provides.

So, of course, there is always enough.
