Unlock the Power of Your Higher Mind, Part 1

By Kumari

“What you seek is seeking you.”
—Rumi, Sufi mystic poet

Do you crave more clarity and connection to your inner guidance or intuition? Can you imagine living your life with ease and grace if you can just figure out how to make decisions more in alignment with your Soul or spiritual essence? You are not alone. Each and every person I work with ultimately is searching for support in this area. This is the “true issue” underlying whatever outer issue currently is creating feelings of overwhelm and chaos, rather than joy and ease, in our life.

Our inability to cease the incessant chatter of the monkey mind—which jumps from thought to thought endlessly, judging and analyzing everything—keeps us from experiencing true inner peace. As a result, we develop the desire to transcend the ego mind and enter a higher state of consciousness, where we can feel supported and guided from our Highest Self. And this is not a modern phenomenon—it is an age-old pursuit.

However, when undertaking this quest, many people doubt they are actually “accessing their Higher Mind wisdom.” In fact, just saying those words can create confusion because there are so many ways to describe and define these esoteric concepts. So let’s begin by clarifying these primary themes.

Rational Mind vs. Higher Mind

Tapping into higher consciousness or divine wisdom involves leaving ordinary, logical thinking behind and entering into our Higher Mind. The good news is that everyone has this ability. Furthermore, it is not an elusive gift for the few, but a natural extension of everyone’s personal mind, as we are all part of the One Universal Mind or Consciousness.

All authentic creative thought and action that is aligned with the universal flow comes first through our Higher Mind. The Higher Mind, therefore, serves as the gateway to Universal Mind. It is vastly different than the lower, logical, Rational Mind. Some related theories even suggest that aspects of our brain control different functions. “Left-brained” is more logical, analytical, and objective, while a person who is “right-brained” is said to be more intuitive, thoughtful, and subjective.

Mind and reality scientist Enoch Tan states: “The mind exists as both the higher mind and the lower mind. The higher mind and lower mind is our higher self and lower self or Ego. When we access our higher mind, we are accessing the universal mind. The universal mind is higher intelligence.”

Tan notes that most people are confused because, when they refer to the mind, they are referring only to the intellect, the linguistic or the rational faculties. “The heart, the emotion, the feeling is also the mind. The intuition and the instinct is the mind. The autonomic system of the body is the mind. The soul, the entire psyche, the will and desire, the conscious and the subconscious, anything you can think of in this aspect is also the mind.”

I totally agree with Tan’s conclusion that intuition is actually higher intellect. It is intellect that is above the ordinary range, as it stems directly from higher intelligence. Rather than view this as a special “gift” for the select few, perhaps more of us will become open to intentionally developing this aspect of mind.

How to Access and then Reclaim Our Command Center

So Higher Mind is the gateway to higher consciousness and Universal Mind, and it is distinct from the analytical and logical Rational Mind. Higher Mind, for example, is the space I access to receive much of my intuition and direct knowing for clients and even animals.

Before we can consistently access and inhabit the Higher Mind, we need to align with our Command Center, the Center of the Head. To help you do this, I want to share a simple—yet powerful—practice first taught to me by Jim Self of Mastering Alchemy. This energy tool allows you to get back into present time, take back ownership of your space, and establish seniority of your being.

That certainty and seniority never disappeared, but that space of experiencing ourselves was compromised as we grew up. When our mother/father/teacher/preacher said, “I have a better idea of how you should live your life,” we naturally shifted out of the Center of the Head, and let another’s beliefs and ideas slide right in. This is normal, yet when these beliefs and ideas are not our “Truth,” we have the experience of giving away our power. When other people’s energies—in the form of thoughts and beliefs about us and the world—dominate our space, we experience doubt, confusion, and a sense of not knowing who we are.

I once shared this technique with a seasoned healer, and she realized that she had never experienced being in the Center of the Head before! When she closed her eyes, she saw her mother’s face, and realized her parent’s overbearing nature had caused her to step out of her own seniority. I suggested she politely, but firmly, command her mother’s energy and beliefs about who she is (and who she is NOT) to vacate the premises. She instantly felt clearer, lighter, and more centered.

When we identify with other people’s truths and perceptions, we give up our space to be safe and accepted. Additionally, we are always in motion, stepping outside of ourselves, to have, be, or do, “that” over there. Thus, our default space is to be out of our body—and this is how we all give away power and step out of true energetic alignment. It is often why we can’t find certainty and clarity. If we try to create or manifest our dreams from outside ourselves, we are not very powerful or successful. By reestablishing central alignment, we are on our way to reclaiming true and full connection to Soul and Source.

Meditation to Access the Center of the Head

Step 1: Finding Center

Take a breath. Relax your body. Connect with your “Grounding Tube” into the center of the earth. It’s as simple as an intention, a focus on its existence.

Now, touch each temple with your forefingers, and draw a line between the two. Now put your fingers between and just above your eyes to a point directly behind, at the back of your head and draw a line. Where they intersect is the Center of the Head, behind your eyes and slightly above. Bring your awareness to that point, take a relaxed breath and, with your attention still on that point, close your eyes.

Step 2: Practice Non-Movement

With your eyes closed, look through your eyes from the Center of the Head as if they are windows, as if you are seeing what’s out in front of you. See if you can stay behind your eyes and with the next breath, open your eyes and see if you can remain observing what’s in front of you, without moving from behind your eyes. Some people jump out of their bodies the first time they do this. Now come out from behind your eyes, blink, and move your head from side to side. Notice the difference.

Now practice opening and closing your eyes without moving out of the center of your head. You may feel like you are straining because there are a lot of people and their opinions in there!

Step 3: Create Your Perfect Space

Once you have reclaimed your Center of the Head, it is wise to decorate it to your liking. It could be a mountaintop with a gorgeous vista; or Captain Kirk’s chair on the starship Enterprise looking out at the cosmos. Claim the space. Make it yours!

Tip: Clear Other’s Energies from the Head with a Rose (or four!)

Choose the image of a long-stem rose (rose oil has the highest frequency of all oils).

Command the rose to clear all energies that are not yours and that no longer serve you.

When the rose feels full, or you see or sense it wilting, envision sending it into the Sun, where it turns to sparkle dust and then transmutes and returns the energies to their source.

Use more roses until you feel very light and spacious and clear.

Step 4: Back to Center

After clearing with the roses, once again bring your focus back to the Center of the Head. Has the location slightly shifted? Often what we thought was the center is a bit off, as we have accumulated other energies in our space in the form of thoughts, beliefs, and concepts that are NOT our truth.

Understanding how to take back our central alignment is key to accessing our Higher Mind awareness and our certainty, clarity, and intuitive connection. Who or what is occupying YOUR center? It’s time to take back your head!

Author’s note: From this alignment practice, I will guide you in the next article how to enter the Higher Mind, which is an immense state of higher consciousness where you will remember your stillness, quietness, focus, ease, and clarity.
