Find Your Inspiration

By Kathy “Katica” Rivera Wallace

“What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you.”  -Ralph Walden Emerson

Can you recall the euphoria you experienced the last time you felt inspired?  Maybe you experienced inspiration after a long walk, or maybe it happened in the middle of that book you were reading.  Perhaps it was after you heard that song on the radio, or it was after hearing the baby laugh.  One thing is certain: Inspiration comes in many forms.  And the more we detach from the idea of being inspired, the faster we are likely to experience inspiration!  It really is that simple.  The signs are virtually the same every time. The heart may start beating a little faster, images are created in your mind so fast that eating or sleeping is no longer a priority.  It is truly a rush!!

At times, life can sometimes hinder inspiration.  Scott Barry Kaufman, a writer for the Harvard Business Review, states,

“In a culture obsessed with measuring talent and ability, we often overlook the important role of inspiration. Inspiration awakens us to new possibilities by allowing us to transcend our ordinary experiences and limitations.”

So the true question is, “How can we become inspired?” My inspiration came with a strong desire for a professional and personal shift.  Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, being conscious of my thoughts and exploring spirituality all became the key ingredients in my creation.  Let me share a glimpse of what I am referring to.  My childhood dream was work in front of the camera, a dream that I put on hold for various reasons.  I took the “safe” route, uninspired as it was, though I did it with enthusiasm and dedication.  I graduated with a Business Administration degree with emphasis in Marketing.   I did the corporate world, then the family business route, and finally my own start-up in professional practice.  As my childhood dream started to inspire me, it became a channel for me to share with others.  I decided to explore Internet broadcasting to teach others how to live vibrantly.  The result was Katica: Living Vibrantly, a lifestyle brand that brings all of these ideas to life, in a format that scales from one-on-one interaction to global distribution.

On October 1st, we launched our very first live broadcast from Tampa, Florida.  We broadcast live in two languages, English and Spanish.  The basic premise of the show is to inspire others.  We do this be teaching them, reminding them, that life starts to become more vibrant once we align body, mind, and spirit.  I know because I am walking proof.  I have lived it, and the birth of this brand came to me one day at a time. I am so honored that I get to share this and so much more via our eponymous show, which is found at www.katicatv.com.  Now our goal is to continue growing our global reach and audience.  We’ve been blessed with outstanding response with a strong response from Australia, Canada, Central America and Europe, not to mention the local and national US market.

It was awesome when life reaffirmed my inspiration:

In March 2014, just four months after we aired our first live show, Katica: Living Vibrantly was nominated in four categories for the 2014 Tampa Bay Talkie Awards. We were nominated for Best Female Host, Best Lifestyle Show, Best Empowerment Show, and Best International Show.  I felt so blessed and grateful!

So, here are five inspired action steps you can take now to help you find your inspiration:

  • First, take a deep, deep breath and as you release that cleansing breath focus on centering yourself  (think: relaxation).
  • Second, start a list of things you enjoy doing and write down why.  As you add to your list, continue the deep breathing and releasing.
  • Third, take each item from your list and start seeking answers.  Check out the internet or talk to people who can guide you in your quest.
  • Fourth, take time walking/mediating or spending time in a park.  Take your list with you and write down any others thoughts.
  • Fifth, give yourself time for your intentions to unfold.  This is probably the most challenging step, however, if you give yourself the gift of time you will watch in amazement your life shift and transform just like my did!

Yes, inspiration comes in many ways.  I am thankful that a childhood dream, mixed with a strong desire for personal and professional change, was the final inspiration that aligned me with my purpose.  It can and will happen to you! Just walk confidently towards those first small steps that will transform your life.  I know you can do it!  Cheers to you living vibrantly!
