Opening the Door to Animal Communication

By Wendy Cooper, MSW

How do we know that Animal Communication is real? When we see “proof” that conditions for the animals in our lives improve either medically, behaviorally or emotionally, we build a framework that strengthens our ability to share information back and forth with the animal kingdom. That is, if a pet stops urinating in the house after Animal Communication, we assume it to be viable. However, often the impacts are less subtle, yet very profound. For example, after the loss of pets, grieving people feel a big sense of relief and serenity once they have telepathic contact with their pets.

Specifically, Animal Communication (AC) is telepathy with animals, which is a transfer of thoughts and feelings between individuals using means beyond the traditional five senses.
The purpose of AC is multilevel. It gives animals the opportunity to assert their needs and desires. It also encourages an exchange of data between animals and people, leading to negotiation that makes life easier for everyone. AC leads us to experience an even deeper respect for and partnership with the animal kingdom. Moreover, each animal comes to us for a particular reason in our lives. They love for us to know their “missions,” which are the specific gifts they bring to us during their lives.

The best times to use AC are when you or your pet experience:

  • Grief (especially guilt) over a sick, dying or transitioned pet
  • Illness
  • Confusing or annoying behavior
  • Family changes
  • Addition of a new pet
  • Separation anxiety
  • Vacation time
  • Curiosity and desire to give your pet a voice!

How it Works
Some Animal Communicators say they have always had their skill, while others cultivate it with lots of practice. Because we are accustomed to exchanging data through talk alone, we tend to discourage and discount other forms of expression. Actually, we all have the ability to communicate telepathically. It is a universal, inborn skill that occurs when we are in a focused “alpha” brainwave state, which is a trance state of consciousness. Our minds can be trained to utilize telepathy, and we all have experienced it whether we recognized it or not. For example, we think about a friend, and then he or she calls. Or, we are speaking with someone and we have the same thought simultaneously. Is that just coincidence, or is there some telepathic exchange of data?

When I translate for animals, they give messages in ways that their human companions can understand. Sometimes it is in an ethnic accent, or data from a particular point of view. The following two stories will illustrate this process. The first is about how AC and our pets’ behavior can help individuals, families and pets to be happier and healthier. The second story demonstrates how AC can be a powerful way to allow children to cope with the loss of a pet.

Sweet Nellie, the Cat, Serves Darlene
Nellie is presently three years old and was adopted as a kitten by Darlene and her husband. When she first arrived at the house, Nellie was sweet and calm. She was coexisting with another cat and doing fine. Then the couple adopted Remy, a young male cat, and her personality changed. She became agitated and, at times, started to spat with Remy. When I connected with Nellie telepathically, she gave me an interesting visual image: Nellie is standing on hind legs with front paws on hips and swaying to and fro, as she speaks loudly. She is clearly intending to be humorous and yet serious. Her metaphorical message is about the need for Darlene to both lighten up and wake up! Nellie offers specific ways for Darlene to be lighter and more conscious. Here are a few of Nellie’s messages that she relayed in a way that Darlene could resonate with:

Darlene’s moods are negatively affecting the family. Nellie’s humor allows Darlene to understand and change her way of being without feeling threatened or insulted.
Darlene needs to watch for Nellie’s agitation, as it is a sign for Darlene that both she and Nellie are distressed. Moreover, that there are concrete ways for Darlene to realign her emotional state to feel happy and healthy. As Darlene realigns, so does Nellie. Then the household feels calmer and joyful.

Darlene needs to back off when the cats are spatting because Remy and Nellie are doing a “dance.” Nellie needs a way to release her stress, and part of Remy’s journey as a cat is to learn to tolerate more stressors.

When I checked in with Remy, he confirmed Nellie’s comments and specifically requested that Darlene not rescue him from Nellie’s overtures, but allow the cats to work it out on their own.

Nellie is now 95 percent back to her sweet self. On occasion, Nellie still “speaks” to Darlene by showing her agitation. That way, Darlene has a powerfully direct reminder of what needs to addressed!

Precious, the Hamster, has Messages for Maya
Maya and Precious came together when Maya was age 8. She experienced a lot of changes in her life during this time and, Precious was always there. When Precious, a hamster, transitioned out of her physical body, Maya was 11 and it devastated her. Using AC, Maya was able to gain perspective that enabled her to see death in a powerfully unique way, and it helped to alleviate her grief. Here are the words Precious sent to Maya through me:

“You are the precious one. And do not ever, ever forget this.
“We were a team and still are a team. I know you feel we are broken but we are not. We are actually stronger now that one of us is totally on the other side, and one of us is earthbound. When the spirit leaves the body, the spirit gets bigger than you could ever imagine. I am here with you and for you forever. I am one of your Spirit Guides. [Pets are Spirit Guides in about 20 percent of the cases I address.] Call on me anytime for courage, faith in yourself and life, and love. I am here, Maya. [Over and over.] I know you do not totally know this yet but it is true. I am here.
Think of me before you go to sleep. I will come into your dreams and we will fly together. We will soar together. It will be great fun and joy for both of us.
I stayed in the body way longer than most. And now I am better able to serve you from the other side. Truly, Maya, we are still a team. I can be with you any time you like. When you are in school, when you are at your Dad’s. That is, any time and much more fully, now that I’m not weighed down by the body.
I love you forever. [Image of Precious sending heart shapes to Maya’s heart.] Maya, about my body. I used that cute body to help you connect with me, to fall in love with me. It worked, didn’t it? [Precious smiles!] Even though I am no longer of that body, feel free to do whatever you need with it to let go. A ceremony of sorts might help. It is your choice.
Just remember how precious you are and know how much I love you. ”

Opening a Line of Communication
I challenge you to open the door to AC with the beloved pet in your life. Try this exercise: close your eyes and see your pet in your mind’s eye. Imagine sending a line of three-dimensional heart shapes from your heart to your pet’s heart. Notice how you feel. Recently, a student in my class chose one of her nine cats for this exercise. That cat immediately jumped in her lap and cuddled. What do you notice?
