Through Counsciousness Life Can Be Your Masterpiece

By Suzanne Giesemann

Benjamin Franklin said, “Nothing is certain but death and taxes”. Franklin was pretty smart, but he was wrong about that one. There is something else of which we can all be certain, and that “certain something” is nothing less than the fundamental essence of life: the unquestionable awareness that “I am.”

Consciousness is the name we give to this awareness, but consciousness is not a feeling, nor is it a thought.

Consciousness cannot be observed, because consciousness is the observer, itself. It is not the experience, but the “experiencer”. Without consciousness there would be no experience.

Just as the light we see with our eyes is but a small segment of the electromagnetic spectrum, our experiences during waking consciousness take place in only one of the many dimensions of consciousness. We experience other segments along the spectrum of consciousness when sleeping or dreaming, and often when performing a repetitive act. We can access altered states of consciousness beyond the dream state through hypnosis or meditation. It is then—when we transcend the limitations of ordinary awareness—that we open ourselves to higher levels of creativity, insight, inspiration, guidance, and wisdom.
Consciousness is in every living thing; from one-celled organisms to plants, animals, and humans. It is omnipresent. Consciousness has no beginning and end. It is eternal. Consciousness is creative. As quantum physics has proven, it is the source of all matter. Because it is the source of all awareness, consciousness is all-knowing.

We most often attribute these qualities to a power outside ourselves, but when we focus on our inner world and become aware of our “I am-ness,” we understand that these qualities belong to us as well. We, as individuals, are a focus of this greater Consciousness. In the physical dimension, we call that focus “Mary” or “John”.  Take away the labels, the personalities, and the lifetime of individual beliefs, and there we find the True Self.
This is the meaning of “oneness”.  In the end, there is only Consciousness.

You, as a focus of Consciousness, are a co-creator with the Artist of Life.

You are given a white canvas every moment. What do you wish to create in your life? More peace? More love? More happiness? Your beliefs are your brushes; your desires are your paint.

When you harness your consciousness, all of life can be your masterpiece.
