A Vision of Freedom and Focus
Happy New Year, fabulous fiery friends!
Once again, we find ourselves at the turning of a page, the beginning of the next chapter and, in some cases, even opening a whole new book. These are exciting times—ripe with possibilities and potential for all who are open and willing. However, without meaning to, we often can get so caught up in the “how” part of realizing our dreams—or the bazillion bytes of data and opinions coming our way at the speed of light—that our vision of our true selves, life and direction can get a bit cloudy.
We think we have to have it all figured out, and craft all sorts of detailed lists, plans and action steps, but the moment the path becomes not quite so clear, or that freedom-loving, inner rebel part of us starts to feel the slightest bit fenced in or overly structured and steps in as if to say, “You’re not the boss of me!” our grand designs and ambitions can go right out the window.
But there is a way for both aspects of the human spirit to get what they want, to live in harmony, and for you to allow awesome manifestations and happy adventures ever-after: Create and maintain a rhythm and flow that allows for both freedom and focus.
Ready to see your life clearly, allow for freewheeling fun, and progressively realize your dreams, new decisions and visions in 2020? Read on to discover five easy steps to see your way to a bright, beautiful New Year—and NOW!
Five Easy Steps for “2020 Vision”
STEP 1: Focus First on the BIG Picture For me every intention/goal/vision/etc. is about fulfilling what I like to call the BPI (Big Picture Intention), which is: “I am LOVING ME and having a GREAT TIME while BECOMING MORE.”
When I really consider ANY and every item that has ever landed on one of my New Year’s Resolutions lists, bucket lists, vision boards or intention lists, I have found that everything boils down to either feeling better and better about me, enjoying my life more, or allowing myself to evolve and grow in some way, shape or form.
So, rather than spin your wheels pursuing something that may actually take you away from what truly matters to you, ask yourself this question first: What is YOUR big picture intention? (Write it down!)
I believe the more you keep your big picture in mind before deciding on any particular direction or goal, the more you actually create and realize a vision truly worthy of your precious focus, time and life.
STEP 2: Decide Want to allow for positive changes or upgrades in your life? Regardless of how general or specific your intentions/focus may be, stick to your guns! Nothing derails a dream, healing or personal evolution revolution like second-guessing yourself and peeking back over your shoulder. Come to a solid and clear decision, hold to your vision, and focus onward, upward and forward! What decision/s have YOU made for this year/for right now—and why? (Write these down!)
STEP 3: Keep Your Visons Front and Center. When “life” happens it’s far too easy to lose sight of your dreams and visions, so having an easy way to replay and keep your visions alive every day is a powerful step to realizing them. Put your visions/decisions in writing or cyberspace in multiple places and forms that are easy to see or review. For example:
→Print a list of your core visions/intentions and/or create an e-mail or text to yourself that you can easily see on your phone.
→Create a physical vision board or photo gallery on your phone/computer/tablet with images. that truly move you and keep the vibe of your dreams alive.
→Create an audio message you can play daily—for ideas, visit www.YourDayOnFire.com.
→Create a weekly list of ideas/action items that feed your visions and decisions.
STEP 4: Focus on Presence and Savor Life When you find yourself in a beautiful moment, savor life by giving that experience, conversation, delicious meal, music, etc., every ounce of your attention. You’ll get to enjoy your NOW even more fully (which is what every dream and goal is ultimately about!) And the longer you focus on joy, fun and all-things fabulous, the more Law of Attraction will amp up the awesome by bringing more feel-good moments your way!
On the other hand, if you find your mind wandering off into over-analyzing the past or worrying about the future, focusing on the here and now in a matter-of-fact way can truly be a lifeline in helping you return to clear vision.
When the monkey mind clouds your vision, take three slow deep breaths, then stop and ask this question: Where am I right now and what data is present?
Answer in very matter-of-fact, non-emotional/computer-esque terms. Only include data that is boring and neutral. Tech and sci-fi fans: Think in terms of what “Alexa” would say if describing a scene, or what “Computer” would say when asked for the current status on board the Starship Enterprise.
For example: “I am here now, sitting in a clear Lucite chair at my glass and stainless-steel dining room table, in our dining room, facing the kitchen, typing on my laptop computer in my home, in Tampa, Florida, United States. The current date is Tuesday, December 11th, 2019. The temperature is currently 70 degrees Fahrenheit. I am wearing a white t-shirt with an image of Snoopy on it, a black and white jacket, grey exercise pants, black socks, black sneakers, and red glasses. On the table are multiple objects: a red water bottle, an open journal, a pencil, a black flashlight and an orange cup. I hear the sound of the washing machine and there is the subtle smell of cinnamon in the air…”
Continue with this thought process until you feel a sense of calm and relief. Just like meditation, this simple exercise of focusing on raw data only helps your mind to focus in a nonresistant way, while helping you interrupt a funky thought pattern, and get back to seeing your life clearly.
STEP 5: Move Move your body every day—literally—as much as possible to keep your vibe and spirits up, your stress low, and your brain open to receiving ideas—and do something related to moving toward the things that truly matter to you.
If you get into the habit of making weekly lists (See “STEP 3: Keep Your Visions Front and Center” above); this can be a great resource to turn to for focus and direction.
A question that has also been amazing for helping me stay on track, keep my focused side happy, and honor my free-spirited creative flow of the moment is: What is the next step I can take NOW that feels constructive and productive?
I also vary this with a more specific version:
What is the next step I can take NOW that feels constructive and productive for my:
àHealth and well-being?
àRelationships? (marriage/partnership, family, friendships, etc.)
àCareer/flow of abundance? (creations, business, investments, etc.)
àHealthy home environment?
The Bottom Line: 2020 Vision
Whether it’s the turning of the calendar, a catalytic event or a fresh, new idea that presents itself to you, any moment can offer an opportunity to make a new decision to cultivate clearer vision.
I have found that having “2020 Vision” for this year, the coming decade, and life in general also does not mean that you have to see every single step or the entire route in advance; it’s about maintaining a balance between keeping your eye on your BIG picture—the overall way you want your life to feel and flow—and having a clear sense of openness and willingness to take the next step.
As we enter the roaring 2020s, it is my wish and intention to see you and your clients embrace even more of the bright, beautiful self and life YOU deserve, for when even one more person dreams with eyes wide open and allows visions to ignite, he or she helps any open and willing soul in this world to remember that they too have the power to turn on the light.
Here’s to making the decision to see your life with “2020 Vision” and to truly living Life on FIRE!
