Learn to Listen to Your Divine Guidance

By Sarah Sparks

I am trapped. I am hurt. I am frustrated. I am the victim. I just want to be pampered. I am tired. I can’t do this anymore.

People I work with often say things like this during our first couple of sessions together. These are statements that they truly believe, and these beliefs are causing pain in their lives.

Do you know anyone who has ever felt this way?

You see, these sayings are simply phrases. They are just thoughts, and thoughts can be changed. We believe we have to look outside of ourselves for the answers about our purpose in life, what we love, and whom we love. However, the more we look outside of ourselves for the answers, the more we begin to feel trapped, hurt, frustrated, and tired. Why? Because we are looking for the answers in all the wrong places.

Yet there is something great within you, and it is ever-ready to arise from slumber and offer you advice for your highest and best good: Your Divine Guidance is ready and willing to serve you! We often forgot that the most powerful—and the most important—connector between our beliefs and the outside world (where we typically seek all the answers to our questions) is our Divine Guidance.

And that Divine Guidance can help us release negativity: We believe we are here alone. We believe we have to solve the company’s problems on our own. We believe we have to solve our children’s problems. We believe there is no one to help us. We forget. We forget there is something greater within us, waiting in stand-by, ready to take flight.

What is ready to help us soar to new heights? Our Divine Guidance! We are not alone. We have help. We don’t have to be trapped, hurt, frustrated, the victim, or tired. We can pay attention to what we are giving our attention to and then listen to our Divine Guidance to help let go of what no longer serves us.

Why Listen to Divine Guidance?

There are numerous reasons why you should listen to your Divine Guidance. Here are three:

It will stop you from looking at the world through a fogged lens. What do I mean by that? There are times when you want to believe and do one thing, but you feel pulled in another direction. Here, you ignore gut feelings and go with what you think is right. You try to see the road ahead and know exactly what to do—but your vision is obstructed by that foggy lens. Listening to your Divine Guidance will lift the fog and bring crisp, clear clarity to your path.

It will prevent you from becoming frustrated and angry. When you believe you have to do everything on your own and no one will ever be there to help you, you begin to put yourself on a pedestal, a platform, of them vs. me. Anger, resentment, and frustration begin to build because you create a gap between what you desire and what you are willing to receive. Listening to your Divine Guidance will eliminate the anger and frustration from your life.

It will bring your life more and more of what you DO desire. Once the fog is lifted and the anger is vanished, all that’s left is gratitude. The more gratitude you have for life, the more of what you desire comes into your life. You are EXPRESSING the Divine that is already inside you, beaming, shining, and speaking through you. All you had to do all along was listen.

When you stop getting in your own way by thinking you know better and learn to feel what is right for you, and then you begin to listen to your Divine Guidance. Your life does not need to be difficult and you do not need to always feel tired and worn out. Life can be—and is—easy, effortless, and enjoyable. It’s as easy as just simply listening.
